Sure, (The) Ohio State University lost to Texas in a nail-biting Fiesta Bowl and the 2007 National Championship LSU (Geaux Tigers!). Now Columbus, Ohio as well as Minneapolis, Minn. and northern New Jersey has something to brag about as Verizon Wireless has selected those cities to test the next generation of wireless broadband wireless, known as Long Term Evolution (LTE).
“Verizon Wireless said Wednesday that it is testing 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) service with the aim of launching commercial service in 2010,” reports Larry Dignan from the ZDNET blog. “Verizon Wireless said the 4G LTE network in field trials has demonstrated download rates of 50 to 60 megabits per second, but the final speeds are to be determined.“
Detail on how much the service will cost – probably more than the monthly rate for 3G service – or which cities will get the expansion from 3G to 4G LTE were not released at the time. But one thing’s for sure, Columbus, Ohio will have 4G and Baton Rouge, Louis. will not.
