It’s the LA tax-free weekend!!

Apple tax break weekend

Did you know that you don’t have to pay state taxes on select purchases on Friday and Saturday?  And it’s very easy: just buy anything under $2,500 and you don’t have to pay the 4% sales tax (but you still have to pay the 4 – 5% parish tax).  The official legalize from the Louisiana Department of Revenue: “The exemption will apply statewide to all consumer purchases of tangible personal property, other than vehicles subject to license and title and meals furnished for consumption on the premises where purchased, including to-go orders, provided that the property is not for use in a business, trade, or profession.”

Apple wants to know that the Apple lineup qualifies for the tax break, as noted in the email obtained by ControlAltTV (pictured above).  What’s surprising is that online orders qualify for the tax break as well.  And yes, it is confirmed that the iPhone should qualify for the tax break.

It’s unclear if other web-retailers will follow suit.

So if your holding out on a new notebook and want to save $50, you have two days only.
