Struggling GHB Broadcasting-owned WIST-AM will drop semi-conservative/sports talk and nostalgic music in favor of all-sports talk from Fox Sports radio starting January 4.
The announcement was made this morning by Eric Asher and again in the afternoon by Kaare Johnson. Current on-air weekday hosts – Eric Richey, Eric Asher and Kaare Johnson – will remain at the station. WIST will add former New Orleans Saints sideline reporter Kenny Wilkerson to the line-up as well. It’s unclear what his time slot will be.
WIST-AM will also add new syndicated sports shows to the lineup when the format flip occurs next year including the debut of former ESPN NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith, who will take over the morning drive slot (5AM – 8AM) on Fox Sports radio. Dan Patrick and Tony Bruno will also join the line-up as well as Fox Sports radio produced shows like J.T. The Brick and Petros & Money.
WIST will continue to be the flagship station for Tulane athletics and the New Orleans Zephyrs. No word if Jim Rome, the most popular sports program on radio, will join the WIST radio lineup.
