You could spend billions of dollars on securing your computer network, but it takes one person to throw all the money spend on security to go out the window.  Social engineering wins again!

A Pittsburgh, Penn company that monitors peer-to-peer activity has discovered blueprints of the president’s helicopter floating around on peer-to-peer networks.

”We found a file containing entire blueprints and avionics package for Marine One,which is the president’s helicopter, ” Bob Boback, CEO of Tiversa told NBC-affiliate WPXI-TV.  “What appears to be a defense contractor in Bethesda, MD had a file sharing program on one of their systems that also contained highly sensitive blueprints for Marine One.”

I have a question: What was a defensive contractor doing with blueprints for sensitive military aircrafts?  Sensitive information should not be allowed on a notebook computer.  If someone needs it, then supply them with a government-issued computer with the information stored off-site only available via a VPN connection.

However, I have question for this company, like why is Fmr. Gen. Wesly Clark on your board of directors?  My feeling is that there trying to get a government contract for P2P sweeping of government secrets when this can be accomplished, and much cheaper, by LOCKING DOWN COMPUTERS BY PREVENTING SOFTWARE FROM BEING INSTALLED AND NOT KEEPING SENSATIVE INFORMATION STORED ON THE HARD DRIVE.

Or are they trying to get the RIAA to be their piracy search results provider?

Plus, someone should tell the CEO how file sharing programs works as well! (Psst, LimeWare doesn’t share the entire hard drive, only the ‘My Documents’ folder).
