Google in talks to acquire Digg

Yahoo, Fox Interactive and New York Times all tried to acquire Digg. Now reports are surfacing that Google is in talks to acquire Digg, the community driven website where users decide what gets posted to the front page.

From Techcrunch:

Google’s on and off negotiations with Digg have been back on in a big way for the last six weeks, we’ve heard from multiple sources inside and outside of Google. The two companies have reportedly signed a letter of intent and are close to a deal that will bring Digg under the Google News property. The acquisition price is in the $200 million range, says one source.

Keep in mind that this is the same site that announced that Yahoo and Fox Interactive (News Corp) were also bidding to acquire Digg (and we know how those reports turned out to be).
