At this exact moment five years ago, Hurricane Katrina made landfall near Buras, Louisiana as a category 3 storm with winds near 125 MPH. 24 hours earlier, Katrina became the forth strongest storm every recorded with sustain winds at 175 MPH and a minimum pressure at 902 millibars. Katrina became the most expensive storm ever ($80 billion) with damage reports in four states and was the deadliest storm to hit Louisiana (1,855 deaths).
