Periscope won last night

Let’s be honest: the real winner in the Mayweather-Pacquiao flight is Periscope. It was used both legally and illegally. The reason why Periscope won is because cable companies epically fumbled last night, including some reports of people for paid for fight ($99 HD/$89 SD) and only saw a blank screen. The fight was delayed 45 minutes because of the technical problems. There was one report of TNT – a basic cable channel – becoming a premium channel during the middle of Game 7 between the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs. Another user said there was a 13 hour wait time to get a representative from Time Warner Cable online.

Even with Periscope being claimed a victor, it was because of people pirating the stream. It will be interesting to see how many streams were killed during the match, including some people telling their followers not comment or heart (like) their stream so it won’t get detected.
