Some changes

You may have noticed that I haven’t been updating the blog recently.  Trying to maintain a technology blog and balancing school work at the same time is a little difficult that I thought it would be.  With that in mind, here are a couple of changes to ControlAltDelete, effective immediately:

  • The Daily Delete is no more.  It’s too much hassle to come up with stories to talk about and then edit all the errors, stutters and other artifacts.  It takes 3 hours to prepare, record and edit a 6 minute podcast that only three people download per episode.  However, I’m not closing the door on podcasting.  Another podcast might show up but don’t expect it anytime soon, it’s in the ‘this is a great idea’ level.
  • More product reviews, less news.  I notice I get more traffic to the site when I write a review on a product or a column than if I wrote a short story on something that people can go to website where the article came from.
  • Newsletter comes next week.  I still enjoy writing about technology news.  So, starting next week, I will publish a twice-daily newsletter.
  • A Twitter contest.  To get people to follow us on Twitter, I’m going to launch a Twitter contest.  Prizes include a Windows Mobile Smartphone, a Linux-powered netbook and something else I’ll dig out from my closet, probably a 30GB Zune.  Details will be announced later on.
