Yahoo really is in trouble

The last couple of week at Yahoo have been a nightmare. First several executives (last count over 100) left the company, including the founder of Flickr, Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake. Jerry Yang is nowhere to be found and his inbox is probably full of fake notices of intent to leave the company. Rumors of a pending reorganization in the coming weeks continue to fuel the flames and now there word that the Microsoft merger talks are back on again. After announcing an advertising agreement with Google, Congress wants to evaluate the deal.

“[The] announcement of an online advertising partnership between Google and Yahoo is yet another example of the rapid changes in this market and further underscores the need for close scrutiny of the impact on consumers,” U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., said in announcing plans for a hearing this summer of the Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection panel. He indicated the hearing would address “consolidation, competition and consumer privacy.”

It just keeps getting worse for Yahoo!
